how we got started

In many parts of Africa, millions of talented and hardworking people are eager to learn, work, and grow in the digital world—but for many years, the cost of owning a laptop computer remained a major barrier. Students, young entrepreneurs, job seekers, and small business owners often had the passion and ambition to succeed, but lacked access to the basic technology needed to connect to the internet.

Seeing this challenge as an opportunity to create change, Mufutau Owolabi founded OK Laptops Limited in 2008 with a bold and meaningful mission: to make laptop computers affordable, accessible, and reliable for everyone—especially the less privileged.

What began as a simple idea soon grew into a technology retail business serving customers both online and offline in Accra Ghana and Lagos Nigeria. The goal was clear—remove the financial barrier that prevented many people from owning a computer and give them the opportunity to connect to the World Wide Web.

From the very beginning, OK Laptops focused on one promise: quality laptops at prices ordinary people can afford. By providing carefully selected durable laptops and creating flexible purchasing options—including pickup locations and delivery services—the company has been able to serve a wide range of customers across the region.

Today, OK Laptops continues to help students complete their studies, freelancers build careers online, entrepreneurs launch businesses, and families gain access to information through the internet. Every laptop sold represents more than a device—it represents an opportunity, a connection, and a step toward a better future.

The vision of Mufutau Owolabi remains the same today as it was in 2008:

To bridge the digital divide in Africa by making technology available to everyone, regardless of their financial background.

At OK Laptops Limited, the mission continues—empowering people, expanding access to technology, and connecting more Africans to the digital world, one affordable laptop at a time.
